The History of Welshy Contracting and Mark Davies ‘Welshy’
Established in Ashburton, Welshy Contracting works throughout the South Island to meet our customers' diverse needs. Welshy and the team can manage all contracting requirements both large and small whether that be agricultural, commercial or residential. We provide a full range of asphalting services, underground projects and fencing. There’s dry hire, offering a wide range of earthmoving equipment and heavy machinery, along with trailer hire and trailers for sale.
The Davies family arrived in New Zealand in April 2001. Welshy has brought over 15 years of experience in contracting and rural operations which he gained in Wales. Welshy Digger Hire Ltd was established in 2004 by Mark Davies, ‘Welshy’, as a single digger and truck operation, providing excavation works in the Canterbury region. Welshy has grown the business to a team of around 20 dedicated employees who offer the same genuine personal service. Welshy Digger Hire Ltd has grown substantially over the years and to better describe the services offered by the company, the decision was made to trade under the name; Welshy Contracting Limited.

Mark Davies, Welshy
Mark Davies or as many of you know him as Welshy, is the main man of the company.
Welshy has years of experiences and enjoys engaging in new and exciting adventures. If you have any questions or want to discuss a project or idea, give Welshy a call
Kelly Jamison
Kelly has been a part of the Welshy Contracting team for over five years. She is the backbone of the office and is the accounts manager.

Kelly’s in office hours are Monday & Thursday 9am until 3pm. For all other times please give in touch via phone or email
Michael Oliver
Michael joined the team at Welshy Contracting a few years ago. Originally from the UK, Michael brings with him years of agricultural work including farming, fencing and contracting work.
For any agricultural job, Michael is the guy for you. His machinery skills are very impressive and his the dedication to the get the job done right.

Megan Davies
Megan has worked very closely with Welshy Contracting for many years. Being the daughter of Welshy, she is very involved with day to day activities.
You will normally find her in the office so if you have any questions or want to chat about a job, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with Megan
Megan’s in office hours are 9am until 3pm, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday
Niamh McGuire
Niamh came on board to cover our office girls maternity leave but now that they are both back working part time, Niamh has decided to stay on.
From working in the office to training up to be STMS qualified and helping out on site driving dozers to dumpers, Niamh is one of a kind!
